Bardo is a death metal band based in Denver, CO that incorporates elements from many corners of the metal world. Spearheaded by Martin Boggess, Bardo is quickly evolving and growing.

The 2025 EP “Of Heart and Mind and Earth” stays true to the downtuned technical and progressive metal that shaped much of Martin’s playing and writing, while the 2026 EP “Underbelly” slows it down, tunes even lower, and lays the groundwork for entwining his deep love of sludge, doom, and deathcore into the future of Bardo’s sound.

While written, recorded, and produced by Martin Boggess, the sonic signature of Underbelly would not be as massive and identifiable without having been mixed and mastered by Connor Haines (Mugshot, Corruption Recordings). Similarly, the visual art provided by painter and tattoo artist Brett Herman elevates the project and provides what might be the single most important part of the EP outside of the music itself.

All in all, Bardo is a furious amalgamation of downtuned riffs and cathartic vocals that seeks to bring motion to and expand upon the pain and suffering of the human experience
